The need
Edward has spent more than half his life in this neighborhood. The community needs the reviving power of Jesus — and the harvest is plentiful.
"The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field." — Matthew 9:37-38 NIV
Who we are
Edward and David came together on the streets, sharing Christ. From that meeting, the Lord built Seed the Word — a young-adult ministry committed to Scripture, fellowship, and giving away Bibles.
A prophetic word
After David's water baptism, in earnest prayer for a way to bear fruit for the Kingdom, a minister from Gideons International approached him with a word from the Holy Spirit. That word became our calling. Seed the Word is now part of the Gideons mission to spread God's Word wherever we can.
"I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing." — John 15:5 NIV
What God has already done
Every Bible placed has been a seed the Spirit watered. Every new face has been God answering the prayer for laborers.
How we gather
Every life group walks through five movements. They aren't a checklist — they're a rhythm the Spirit fills.
How we seed
If you join us, you're welcome to take a Bible home for the week. We ask one thing:
In your prayer time, ask the Lord who this Bible is for. If someone comes to mind, give it. If no one comes to mind, bring it back next week. There's no pressure either way.
The work is the Lord's. The Bible is the seed.
"Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver." — 2 Corinthians 9:7 NIV
What we're asking
We are not asking the church to start something new. We're asking the church to host what the Lord has already begun.
Why now
Young adults are leaving churches at the rate the Lord is calling them. Newcomers to faith are finding their way to Maple Park because the Word has been planted there for years. With the church's blessing, we can disciple them in the very neighborhood where Edward grew up.
"How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!" — Romans 10:15 NIV
The closing
We are honored to serve Jesus with the zeal of servitude. With Maple Park behind us, we believe the Lord will multiply this work beyond what any of us can plan.
"Therefore go and make disciples of all nations… and surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age." — Matthew 28:19-20 NIV
Sincerely,
Edward and David — and the team of Seed the Word
